💩 Did you know that a baby's p**p can tell you a lot about their health? Share this with a friend who's expecting!
Here are the different stages of newborn p**p:
1️⃣ Meconium P**p: This is the first stool that a newborn baby passes, usually within the first 24-48 hours of life. It is dark green or black in color and has a sticky, almost glue-like texture. This p**p is made up of amniotic fluid, mucus, and other substances that were ingested by the baby while in the womb.
2️⃣ Transitional P**p: This type of p**p typically occurs 2-4 days after birth, as the baby's digestive system begins to mature. It may be greenish-brown in color and have a looser texture than meconium.
3️⃣ Breastfed P**p: If the baby is exclusively breastfed, their p**p will likely be a mustard-yellow color and have a seedy or curdled texture. Breastfed babies may p**p after every feeding or only once every few days.
4️⃣ Formula-fed P**p: If the baby is formula-fed, their p**p may be brown or tan in color and have a thicker, paste-like consistency. Formula-fed babies may p**p less frequently than breastfed babies.
5️⃣ Solid Food P**p: Once a baby begins eating solid foods, their p**p will start to change again. The color may be more varied, ranging from yellow to brown to green, and the texture may become more formed and solid.
💡 Tips: Before your baby's first meconium p**p, apply a thin layer of Vaseline to your baby's bottom. This can make it easier to wipe off the sticky, tar-like p**p and help prevent diaper rash. Just clean your baby's bottom with a damp cloth or wipe, and the meconium should come off easily.
Remember that the color and texture of a baby's p**p can vary depending on many factors. If you have any concerns about your baby's p**p, it's always best to consult with a pediatrician. 🧡
