Family Optometry was founded by Dr. Robert Hutchinson in Marion in 1976, and was known as Marion Family Optometrists. In 1994, he began an office in Wabash, known as Family Optometry. In early 2015, the Marion office also assumed the Family Optometry name. Dr. Hutchinson operated both the Marion and Wabash offices by himself until Dr. Dale joined him in 2007. From the beginning, Family Optometry w

as guided by Dr. Hutchinson’s convictions that people are more important than money, that all patients deserve to be treated like family, and that the office should be a fun place for both staff and patients. While Dr. Hutchinson was sadly lost to cancer in August 2014, Family Optometry continues to operate upon those principles he valued. In September 2014, Dr. Ashley Yearling joined Dr. Dale, and together, they remain committed to providing caring, affordable, high quality eye care for families in the Marion, Peru, and Wabash communities. In August 2015, Dr. Jack Derby joined the Family, serving the Marion and Wabash locations. In September 2015, a branch in Peru was established to service the greater Miami County area with quality eye care and affordable eye wear.

We've acquired a red light therapy machine in our Wabash office for treatments of macular degeneration and dry eye, but are also going to be offering services to those who would like to use it cosmetically.
