We’re the Perfect Fit!
I’m Julia Turner Lowe, the designer and owner of JTL Designs. Designing for and dressing full figured women is an absolute joy for me; it’s really quite personal because I love dressing myself! I get up and I decide each day how I intend to interact with myself and with the those I encounter. No matter what I chose, my personal classic style choices are always at work. Knowing who you are, being yourself and dressing in a way that your personality shines are key. My passion and mission are one and the same for the JTL Designs customer; that is to inspire confidence and well-being in mind, body and spirit through impeccable classic and timeless style.
While I’m not a wedding dress designer, my friend Keisha, a dedicated preschool teacher in Boston, asked me to design her wedding dress. First, I panicked, and she reassured me that she trusted me to guide and help her get exactly what she wanted. After many Pinterest posts, I got a clearer understanding of her style choices, I relaxed and understood why she asked me to design her dress. Still a huge undertaking, but well within the JTL aesthesis. Simple, clean lines and beautiful fabrics, I can do a wedding dress!
For me, the most important job was making sure the fit was perfect for her body type and that the final look represented Keisha’s personal style and JTL Designs’ simplicity and elegance. Keisha made three trips from Boston to Philly to meet with me and the dressmaker Melanie Bruce of Sew Rob to ensure that she had the perfect fit.

In New York to see Lynn Nottage’s musical adaptation of “The Secret Life of Bees” and found this 140 mirrored statues display sponsored by HULU. I was surprised to learn that there 145 statues of men, 26 statues of animals and 5 statues of women. Here I stand! @ Madison Square Park
