BIG shoutout to everyone who came out on Saturday to celebrate and our 2nd ANNIVERSARY 🎉🎉🎉 Building this project has brought us all a lot of joy, and in this tumultuous time, it’s been a place of communal rest. Keeping a small business going can be a fight and it’s been a privilege to honor the legacy of the civil rights activists we respect so much, through it! One year ago, we set out to create a safe haven for self-expression and joy through our monthly open mic series, and there’s NO WAY we could’ve done it without you.

Come celebrate with us, and one whole year together as a community!

This event will take place Friday, February 28th, 2025 at BLK Ivy Thrift from 6:30-8:30pm.

Complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. For those performing, please prepare pieces surrounding Black love and JOY, as this will be our theme for the evening!

Please also enjoy our playlist offering, featuring old and new favorites that are sure to make your heart sing! Vibe to it in your car, at work, dancing with your Auntie in the
kitchen, sauntering with your sweetheart, or getting ready for our Open Mic Night.

That’s right, family. You asked, we delivered, and it feels amazing to be back!

In two week’s time, we will be hosting a gathering of some of the most brilliant minds in all of Philadelphia for our inaugural
Poet’s Salon on Saturday February 15th from 10am-12:30pm.

This new, monthly writing club will serve as a third space for scribes and poets who are looking to sharpen their craft, get feedback and build community in a nourishing and supportive environment.

Important: Due to the intimate nature of the setting, we will be limiting our capacity to a group of 16 participants per session, and
will announce any and all closures on our page and stories.

Should you register for a session and are unable to make it, please email [email protected] as soon as possible by February 13th at 7pm EST, as we will be working from a waitlist.
