No one tells you about the fourth trimester.
👶 What it means
The “fourth trimester” refers to the first ~12 weeks after birth, when a newborn is adjusting to life outside the womb and parents are adjusting too.
💡 Why it’s called that
Even though pregnancy has 3 trimesters, experts use this term because:
Babies are still developing rapidly (especially brain and nervous system)
They often need womb-like conditions (warmth, closeness, constant feeding)
It’s a major transition period for both baby and parents
🍼 What it looks like in real life
Frequent feeding (every 2–3 hours or more)
Lots of sleep—but in short stretches
Fussiness/crying (totally normal)
Need for being held, rocked, or swaddled
The one where you're home, the guests have stopped coming, and it's just you and this tiny person who needs everything from you, all the time. It's the most overwhelming, heart-cracking, beautiful season of your life, all at once.
To every parent in that season right now: you're doing it. Even when it doesn't feel like it.
We started Stroller Society because we believe the little things matter during that time, the softness of what's against their skin, the sweetness that makes you pause and just *look* at them for a second and wish you could keep them that little for just a bit longer.
You deserve beautiful things in this season. So does your baby. 🤍
