Did you know that most plastic IS recyclable if it's clean and dry? Even all of the not numbered types that are not accepted in curbside recycling programs! The main reason you can't recycle these curbside is that single stream recycling systems (all materials together, no sorting on your end) can't handle soft plastics, they jam up the machinery used to sort out materials. Rabbit Recycling ๐โป๏ธ gets around this by hand sorting all of the items that come to them and working with more specialized recycling companies to ACTUALLY recycle your items!
A few of the most surprising things that they can recycle: styrofoam! (As long as it's clean and not greasy from food) and other foam products; soft plastics like shrink wrapped packaging, cereal bags, food packaging and even foil lined things like chip bags; waxed cardboard like ice cream cartons, coffee cups and milk cartons! And so much more!
You can have them pickup directly from your house weekly, every other week or monthly or you can drop off or mail materials to their warehouse for very reasonable fees. Anyone can also sign up to shop their materials for free! This is great for artists, teachers or anyone crafty.
Rabbit Recycling can be a great alternative to Philly's overwhelmed curbside system of course in addition to REDUCING and REUSING (and swapping!) ๐โป๏ธ๐
