We want to bring some awareness to a touchy topic. Today is National Anti-Obesity awareness day. 4 in 10 Americans struggle with obesity, so we wanted to share a few tips that can be helpful to anyone wanting to take that next step to combatting this disease.

1. Movement is medicine. So many Americans work sedentary jobs that either tie them to a desk, or professions that can be done online from the comfort of their home. This is great, but many people neglect their movement on a daily basis.

The Tip: Build time into your daily calendar for YOU, and your health & fitness. Block out parts of your day for you time. Whether it is 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes. Use this time to move in any way that feels comfortable for you! Then you can be on your way to burning more calories on a daily basis and be one step closer to beating obesity

2. Be mindful of the food & beverages you put into your body. This is on YOU. This is a disease that most of the time is 100% caused and can be cured by the person who has it. YOU control this. Do your own research on food intake, calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, etc.

The Tip: Begin to be MINDFUL to what you put in your body. Build this awareness as your foundation. You do not need to jump into a restrictive diet, or any diet for that matter. You just need to START with something. So start by paying attention to what you eat, and it can lead you to curiosity, which can lead to action.
