About the beads:
My beads can withstand up to 60 pounds of force when tied properly. My thread has never snapped on a single customer. I use the best materials that I can find, because you deserve the best.
About the purpose:
Waistbeads were popularized in the 15th century in West Africa. They were used to hold menstrual cloth, tie babies for naming ceremonies, mark a momentous occasion in a woman's life, indicate status+age, shape the body, track weight gain+loss, and even more. Color palettes had great meaning, and still do today.
Today, in America, many women of different backgrounds wear waistbeads for different reasons, and do not always follow traditional purposing. Some women wear them simply to adorn an area of the body that we are often too quick to criticize. Other women wear waistbeads to track their weight without obsessing over a scale. Some wear waistbeads to set intentions, or to serve as a physical reminder of a promise they've made to themselves. Your purpose is your business, and is personal to you 💕
Why I am making them:
Waistbeads are a part of our little family, and it is a cultural tradition we choose to keep for the sake of our children staying connected with their culture. I began this journey simply to keep tradition in the home for my children, but it turned into a business when I couldn't keep up with the cost of friends+family requesting waistbeads. Now, it brings me happiness to spread the joy, comfort, and power of wearing waistbeads with other women.
Hair&Body Butter + Pink Salt Scrub:
I also offer handmade Hair&Body Butter, and Himalayan Pink Salt Scrub. We worked to find the ingredients that would provide a luxurious moisture for our family's hair and skin, so I'd love to pass it on to you ❤️
I truly look forward to working with you!
