This one right here! Like I told the Senior Editor of ASU Turning Points Magazine Taylor Notah, who ever has the opportunity to work with and/or hire Lucy is lucky to have her.
I am Lucilla (Lucy) Taryole, and I am both of the Kiowa tribe and the Mvskoke Creek Tribe.
I am a Junior studying Animation (particularly 3D Animation) underneath the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts.
A fun fact about me is that I created the t-shirt design for the Office of American Indian Initiatives for the Doing Research in Indigenous Communities conference.
My future artistic career goals are to create Indigenous artwork that mixes both a modern style with contemporary styles. My forms of mediums vary in different areas such as digital illustrative work, paint work, 3D artwork, and graphic design.
I hope my artwork creates an inspirational take for the Indigenous community. Whether it be through publication (Turning Points Magazine), academia or just for fun!
Another fun fact is that I love cats. :)
I decided to join the Labriola team because of the amount of community engagement that happens here. The engagement of people is what I aim to strive for. Getting involved with others on a large scale to help encourage a positive growing community for the indigenous people is something I’d like to participate in as I am going through college. Labriola houses a plethora of literature based in Indigenous culture. I want to take my position here as an opportunity to educate myself on more Indigenous knowledge, history and culture. Very excited to contribute and hopefully expand my skill set in a very engaging community!
Welcome, Lucy, to the Labriola National American Indian Data Center at Hayden Library!
