Last fall in Battambang, Cambodia, our team spent a Saturday afternoon at a local water park with the young men we were spending the week with.
Up to that point, the trip had felt… difficult. We cared about each other, but there were language barriers, different cultures, and moments where it felt like we were missing each other.
Then somebody suggested the water park.
For five dollars, none of that mattered anymore.
We still couldn’t speak the same language.
But we could laugh.
We could splash each other.
We could race down water slides.
We could celebrate every wipeout.
For a few hours, words became unnecessary.
Looking back, that afternoon changed the rest of the trip. The walls came down, friendships formed, and everything felt different from that point on.
Months later, I was scrolling back through old videos from Cambodia when I landed on this one.
I laughed for a second and thought, “Well… there’s the music video.”
I didn’t write God I’m Okay Today on that trip, but this little clip somehow captures the feeling of the song better than anything I could have planned.
Sometimes the moments that shape us don’t seem all that significant while we’re living them.
Sometimes you only recognize them when you’re looking back.
Still one of the best $5 I’ve ever spent.
Grateful for ministries like Roots of Grace Cambodia that create opportunities for moments like this.
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
