These two boys were picked up separately as strays in the Town of Plattekill. Both appeared to have been well cared for. No one can say for sure that they were dumped, but no one has come forward to claim either pup. Unfortunately the Town of Plattekill has a 5 day hold, and these boys are going on 4 weeks. At this time the town is requesting immediate placement or they will likely be euthanized, as they do not have any long term accommodations for strays. We are sharing this as a courtesy in hopes of getting these deserving boys to safety before it's too late.
Because they arrived as strays, very little is known about their backgrounds. Any placement should be prepared to give them time, patience, and a slow introduction to their new home while they decompress and adjust.
🐾 **Shih Tzu Mix**
• Approximately 8 years old
• Around 15 pounds
• Calm, laid-back companion
• Walks nicely on leash
• Appears to be house trained
• Up to date on vaccinations
• Neuter status unknown
• Has been around other dogs without issue, though no formal dog test has been completed
🐾 **Shepherd Mix**
• Approximately 2–3 years old
• Around 60 pounds
• Typical shepherd bark, but has shown **no aggression toward people**
• Has been cooperative during handling and daily care
• Vaccination status unknown
• Neuter status unknown
These dogs do not have to be adopted together. They simply both just need a chance.
