Let this planner be a reminder that every day is worth celebrating 🎉

After a week of exploring different colorways, I ended up right where I started: my Retro Mod Sprinkles in my favorite blue💙 The pink mini squares are just wonky enough to bring those confetti-party vibes to life, hitting that sweet spot between playful and polished✨

In the midst of a chaotic week, this planner made me smile😊 Hopefully it does the same for you! Good luck to all entering the .coil contest✨

Let's chat sketchbooks!! 📚

I've always admired artists with gorgeous sketchbooks - where each page is framable and a finished piece of art...but spoiler alert, mine is nothing like it😆

My sketchbook is....a book of scribbles and doodles 😆

It's an important part of my process as a surface designer because it's where all my ideas first get jotted down, and I get to refer back to it throughout my artwork creation process✨ but it is messy, unfinished, and not so pretty😂

Sometimes I use pencil, sometimes black pen, sometimes colored pens or colored pencils (I'm not very picky). Lately I've noticed myself using markers a lot because they're so fluid and easy to play with. I can color in a background easily or try out a few color combinations.

I'm genuinely so curious 👀 Tell me how you use your sketchbook - are you team pretty or messy?? (No judgement either way🤣) And what is your go-to drawing supply? 🎨

Hi friends! I created this artwork called “Tomorrow” a little while back and am so happy to finally share it with you💛 It's a bit quirky and feels like me😂

I actually first drew this with a “thinking of you” greeting card in mind, hoping to convey a little hope that everything will be okay… even on those gloomy days🌧

Now I’m imagining this design as a cozy woven blanket to cuddle up in, providing a little reminder that brighter days are ahead when you need that pick-me-up🌞

I had fun playing with color, and these two ended up being my favorites (swipe to see the second one)! Which one would you cuddle up in? 😍

A little love for the neutrals🤍 Sometimes you want all the color… and sometimes you want a little more calm✨ I know that the bright colorway has been getting A LOT of attention from me lately😅 so today's all about the Neutral Color Story from the Wonderful World collection!!

These beautiful photos are from , a lovely modern fabric shop carrying the neutral Wonderful World line (did you see all the beautifully curated bundles 👀?! Yes you should DEFINITELY check them out)🧵

I just love how the neutral colorway brings together both warm and cool tones while still keeping all the playful feel of the collection - I think these neutrals will be perfect for a modern nursery quilt for the sweetest baby🤍

This is not goodbye❤️

I initially planned for these beautiful photos and post to be a celebration of all of my fabric collections currently available through ...

but instead, with a heavy heart, I have to share the news that all of my collections are no longer available on the Hawthorne website as they have stopped their print-on-demand fabric operations😢

Hawthorne Supply Co. was my first ever licensing deal. I’ve been working with Hawthorne since 2023, and released 13 collections over the last 3 years. Those collections have been such an important part of my surface designer growth and journey🌱

So seeing that chapter suddenly come to an end is difficult, and I’m still processing this news, to be honest 🥺

I’m especially sad for those of you who have shopped my fabrics through Hawthorne over the years. I’ve loved seeing what you’ve made with my designs, and I know many of you have come to Hawthorne specifically to shop my collections. Thank you for every order, every quilt, every dress, and every kind message you’ve shared with me❤️ I'm sorry for such sudden news, but please know how grateful I am for ALL of your support over the years.

I’m trying to look at this as a reminder that our creative businesses are always evolving and we can only control what we can control 🌱

In the meantime, most of the collections that were available through Hawthorne are also available through my shop and . If you have any questions about specific prints, please reach out!

I’m closing this particular chapter with a very full heart❤️ Hawthorne is where my fabric designer journey began 🌱 but now I’m blooming in new places and I'm more excited than ever to continue growing as a fabric designer, here I come🌸

So this is not a goodbye but a transition✨

Hello! I’m Seiko 👋 If you’re new here, welcome!! If you’ve been here for a while, thank you for being in my corner - here's a little reintroduction💛

I’m a surface designer and illustrator based in Pittsburgh, PA. I love to create little worlds filled with curious animal friends, flowers, plants, and everyday objects that bring joy🎨 I love to tell stories through my art that bring a smile to your face💛

My path to getting here has been a winding road! I have a PhD in chemistry👩🏻‍🔬 (yes, really😂 which basically means I’m persistent to a fault 🙃) and while I still think making molecules is pretty cool, I’m grateful to have landed on this artsy creative path.

I started designing fabric prints for my own handmade baby shop in 2022, and now I'm licensing my designs to companies around the world, which is wild to think about🤯 2026 has been a big year for me as a fabric designer with my Wonderful World collection finally released with and my debut collection 🌸 Meadow Blooms🌸 with announced (available for preorder for a 2027 release)!!

It’s been almost 5 years into my surface design journey, and I’m filled with mixed emotions! Part of me is in awe of how much I’ve accomplished while juggling motherhood, homeschool, and my handmade shop, while another part feels like I’ve finally made it to the starting line. There is still so much I haven’t explored yet! I'm especially excited to see my art on different products like greeting cards, wallpaper, gifts, stationery, puzzles and so much more - declaring them now haha💛

Quilty Summer Chapter 05: Hens and Chickens🌈

The final quilt block I learned to sew this summer: Hens & Chickens! I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this one, but I'm glad my kiddos encouraged me to try as I ended up liking it so much more than I expected🐔

And just like that, I have 4 more blocks to add to my stash, for a total of 21 quilt blocks🎉 Just 4 more blocks to reach my goal of 25-blocks for a mini quilt top!! Are you ready to see all the blocks together?! Stay tuned💛

Hydrangeas💙 Here’s my take on a hydrangea pattern for this week’s Spoonflower Design Challenge! Full Bloom Hydrangea Garden with Cute Snails🐌

I decided to really lean into my style for this one. In the past, I would try different styles for these challenges, but lately I’ve been trying to narrow my focus a bit and ask myself: What is my take on this prompt? What would make me feel, yes, I designed that, and something that feels like me, not someone I’m not.

So I drew the hydrangeas with stylized, hand-drawn charm and, of course, couldn’t resist adding a little snail family 🐌

Quilty Summer Chapter 04: Sawtooth Stars: my favorite (so far) ⭐️ I was quite ambitious to tackle this one as my third quilt block but I finally started to get the hang of it after these four ⭐️

This was my first time trying flying geese, and getting those seams to line up took some trial and error😅 I also learned the importance of pressing your seams after every step the hard way🙃 The next four I made (woops forgot to take pics) look way better because of this, mark my word😂

So I ended up making 8 sawtooth star quilt blocks🎉 Out of these first four… which one is your favorite? 😍

Say hello to the BRIGHT + COOL colorway of Wonderful World🌎

This is the colorway that I know I'll probably run out of first! I'm starting with 3 of these prints for my shop's fall/winter release that's in the works😍 This colorway is also closest to my original vision for this collection, so it's exciting to finally hold this stack in my hands💙
