Our mission is twofold: to adorn you in high-quality well-designed colorful forever pieces, and to contribute to sustaining indigenous craft techniques while supporting women makers in India. We are honored to have you with us on this journey!

Swiatlo was founded in 2019 by Parsons alumni Elizabeth Hartman, an American with Polish heritage.

❤️‍🔥Where’d we go, who knows? A hibernation, a time of growth and reflection. I didn’t feel like making a Grand Exit Post a little over a year ago. We just stopped, for a while. I felt disgusted to make any more salesy social posts- felt exhausted at the thought of uploading one more listing to the website. The dream realized had become a 24/7 treadmill, coupled with some personal life challenges. A perfect storm saying just STOP and re-evaluate. We never announced it… we just stopped.

Around now last year, so many of our contemporaries were shutting shop and saying goodbye with a myriad of aforementioned Exit Posts - I was amazed by how much incredible work was ending. Asking other founders why they’d also stop the fantastic things they were doing, while being bone-dry exhausted to the depth of my soul and just deeply Knowing they must feel the same.

It’s a tough game. Love and passion are not enough.

Retailers you once counted on disappear, or they drop the collection with a moments notice and for no apparent reason despite sales being constant. At one point we had a retailer who I won’t tag (although honeyyy how I want to!) - got on calls with us, had us sign forms, shared that they wanted exclusive styles so we began prepping the workshop to create the collection- then they just ghosted. Didn’t respond to any of my contact to share what had happened. These things were so incredibly disheartening, combined with the economy slowly slipping downward and our most loyal clients facing their own life challenges.

❤️‍🔥Behind the scenes I have continued to create for private clients and remain creative + engaged. I focused on my own learning while sharing my experiences with students at a university in Delhi for a while. ♾️And hey Aniccq, that has passed away for a new chapter to rise with time♾️ one with a different name, a different vibe, she’s still slowly revealing herself to me. Still growing
Until then, we have lots of beautiful saree and blockprint pieces to share for festive season in Delhi✨
