Here are our top 5 Red Panda fun facts from :
They are one of the few animals that can climb straight down a tree, head-first.
They have an extra thumb, (an enlarged bone) for grabbing bamboo stems and tree branches.
They have scent glands on the soles of their feet, to mark their territory.
They are classified as vegetarian carnivores - they’re descended from carnivorous ancestors but their diet is 97% bamboo and they occasionally eat small mammals, eggs and flowers.
When it gets really cold red pandas wrap their tail around themselves and go into a deep sleep, which reduces their metabolic demands and lowers both their core temperature and respiration rate

Allow us to introduce our hero of the week - Red Panda.
With their wildlife population dwindling to just around 10,000, Red Pandas are critically endangered. They live in the forests of the Himalayas and have beautiful reddish fur and striped tails which has made them very popular in native Asia. You'll often see their expressive faces in cartoons, like toys and mascots. Despite their popularity, they are still being killed by human actions such as deforestation, poaching, accidental trapping, and illegal pet trade.

We would like to introduce one of the first characters in the series- Platypus.

The Platypus is listed as near threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. Extreme, prolonged drought conditions in Australia have dried up the waterways that make up the platypus’s habitat, according to a 2020 study in Biological Conservation. The animals are also threatened by habitat loss due to land clearing and climate change. Recent bushfires have also taken a toll on the species. “There is an urgent need to implement national conservation efforts for this unique mammal by increasing surveys, tracking trends, mitigating threats and improving the management of platypus habitat in rivers,” the researchers write.

We learned to tame the wild. Evolving and solving the problems along the way. Scientists have decided that Earth is now has entered a new phase of its existence: Anthropocene, the age of humans.
However, we’re now facing biggest problem that humans ever have faced.

“Our planet is becoming less wild. Our species has cleared three-trillion trees, cultivated half it’s fertile land, and now fishes across most of the ocean.” - Sir David Attenborough
