As an optometrist, there are a few things I simply would never do when it comes to my own eyes:

❌ Sleep in contact lenses that aren’t approved for overnight wear
❌ Ignore sudden flashes, floaters, or changes in vision
❌ Skip my comprehensive eye exam because my vision “seems fine”
❌ Rub my eyes excessively, especially if they’re irritated or itchy
❌ Wear old or damaged contact lenses beyond their recommended replacement schedule
❌ Assume digital eye strain is something I just have to live with
❌ Wait until there’s a problem to prioritize my eye health

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that if you can see clearly, your eyes must be healthy. The reality is that many eye conditions can develop with little to no symptoms in their early stages!

Your eyes deserve the same proactive care as the rest of your health. 😊

And if it’s been a while since your last comprehensive eye exam, it may be time to schedule one.
