I found THIS on my tomato plant. šŸ˜³

At first I thought these were eggsā€¦

Nope.

Thatā€™s a tomato hornworm covered in parasitic wasp cocoons.

The hornworm eats my tomato plants.

The wasps attack the hornworm.

So apparentlyā€¦ I leave it right where it is.

Free pest control. šŸ˜‚

Nature is WILD.

Iā€™ve been on a serious thrifting kick lately, so Iā€™m borrowing one of my auntā€™s rules: when something comes home from the thrift store, something else has to leave.

It doesnā€™t have to be a one-for-one trade. Iā€™m just trying to keep the amount of stuff in my house under control!

Today, this jacket is heading to the donation pile. I havenā€™t worn it in years, but first Iā€™m removing all the enamel pins Iā€™ve collected. Each one reminds me of a place I went, something I did, or someone I met over the last several years.

Iā€™m keeping the memories and letting go of the jacket. Now I just need to decide what to do with all these pins next. Any ideas?

Weā€™re pairing quilters with swap partners to make and exchange a thread catcher. Itā€™s a fun, useful project, a good reason to use some favorite scraps, and youā€™ll get a little happy mail in return.

Already have a thread catcher? So do I. šŸ˜‚ I have more than one sewing station, and somehow I can always use another one.

Her grandfatherā€™s sweater is about to become something completely new. ā¤ļø

My customer brought me this sweater and asked me to turn it into several keepsakes for her family. We went to The Fabric Chic together and chose special fabrics with each sibling in mind.

First up is a shaving bag for her brother.

Iā€™m combining the sweater with leather, and then I needed just the right zipper. Instead of buying new, I found a menā€™s jacket for 50% off at my local Hillcrest thrift store and harvested the zipper.

And LOOK at that match. The zipper teeth work perfectly with the brass buttons from Grandpaā€™s sweater.

Sometimes the right detail is already out there waiting to be found.

I canā€™t wait to show you how this one comes together.

Another finish! ā¤ļø

A big thank you to todayā€™s Quilt Holder, my son JD, and his trusty assistant, my granddog Remi. Although Iā€™m pretty sure Remi thought this entire photo shoot was about her. šŸ˜‚

I know it seems ridiculously early to start thinking about Christmas gifts, but if a memory quilt is on your list this year, now really is the time to get started.

Whether you want to make one yourself or have me make one for you, these quilts take time. And if you want me to make it, getting into my queue is half the battle. I only have two Christmas spots left.

There are more details at the link in my bio, but seriously, if a memory quilt is something youā€™ve been thinking about for Christmas, donā€™t wait until November to start thinking about it!
