Under His Wings Thrift Shop has gently-used clothes at super low prices. Our Baby Pantry provides "Baby Basics" to families on WIC.

Parents needing baby items can visit the pantry during its open hours. They will need to fill out a form on their first visit validating their need. In the months after that, they only need to come and get what they need.

Another Monday, now we can get serious about the week and work towards the weekend. Under His Wings Celebration for Tuesday is:

“World Chocolate Day” - Chocolate’s journey began over 5,000 years ago in the rainforests of Latin America, where ancient cultures cultivated and cherished cacao as a sacred and medicinal substance. By 1550, Spanish explorers had brought cacao to Europe, where it evolved from a bitter ceremonial drink into the sweet, global sensation we know today. Chocolate does more than satisfy cravings—it’s a cultural catalyst. Its transformation from a sacred bean to a mass consumed delicacy reflects trade, innovation and societal change across centuries. Over 40 million people depend on cocoa farming and deforestation threatening cacao-growing regions, this day urges consumption and support for ethical production practices.

“Strawberry Sundae Day” - this day matters because it makes a small, everyday pleasure an intentional moment of enjoyment. Celebrating a strawberry sundae highlights seasonal fruit, supports local markets when strawberries are in season and encourages simple, shared experiences that can lift moods during the hot months. In Plattsmouth, there is Dairy Queen and I am not sure if they are still there, but also Goodrich Dairy. You would think after living in this area since 2009, I would know that, I have never stopped in to check. Or you can make your own.

Good evening from Under His Wings. We hope everyone recovered from all of yesterday’s activities. Our Celebration Day for Monday is:

“International Kissing Day” - the interesting fact about this day is that research has shown about 5% of individuals aged 45 and above engage in passionate kissing at least 31 times a week. This unexpected statistic goes to show how the flames of romance can continue to burn brightly in later life. Kissing, an act so simple yet profound, offers several benefits that are often overlooked in the pursuit of fleeting romantic encounters. A kiss extends beyond romantic inclinations—it serves as an endearing gesture, a reminder to others of our love and care for them. Kissing can contribute to both our mental and physical well-being. An engaging kiss can help you burn 6.4 calories per minute. Who needs a gym when you can burn calories while expressing affection.

“National Fried Chicken Day” - this holiday highlights a dish with cultural and economic reach. Chain and independent eateries often use this day for limited-time offers, which can generate foot traffic and media attention. Make the celebration about more than just eating by turning it into a small event, host a tasting with different styles, compare recipes or pair chicken with traditional sides. European cooks were frying poultry in the Middle Ages, and the earliest known English recipe resembles Odeon fried chicken appears in a 1747 cookbook. Happy Sunday afternoon from Under His Wings. We have a Save-The-Date for you. As noted by the flyer pictured here, we will be having a Mid Summer Sale starting 14 July through 18 July. All adult clothing priced at $3.50 will be $2.00 each. Now is the chance to get final summer clothing such as shirts, shorts, pants and capris. We will start putting our Fall clothing out on the 1st of August.
