My favorite thing about this job is learning something new everyday. I thought this bottle must be pretty rare, because I've never seen such a thing, but when I went to look it up I realized they still sell this product. There are over a hundred different variations of placental supplements on Amazon, mostly for hair and skin. As someone who was born with a head of hair and a full set of teeth, I guess that makes a lot of sense. I'm always learning.

This is not a job for people that don't like to work. However, some days we really do get to just play with our toys all day. This is one of those days. :)

A new massive toy collection is hitting the shelves today. I'll have better pictures next week, but we just needed to start putting it out so we could make room in the back for the next load. There is a lot of really great stuff in this one.

We hope to see you soon!

A little secret about our business you may not know is that in 8 years, I haven't taken a dollar home. That isnt to say that we haven't been successful, that we haven't "profited," but every dollar we've made has turned back into inventory, fixtures, a building, a door, a paycheck.

You might ask how that's possible, and I present to you this Lady here, who has worked a "real job" this whole time, and paid our bills. I'm not proud that my wife paid our bills for 8 years, but I am proud of my wife for paying our bills for 8 years. Just like our marriage, we're still in business because we never wanted to quit at the same time. She believed on the days I didn't.

And now our business has grown to a point, that she's just too valuable to us here and at home to be driving downtown everyday. So, today was her last day after a successful 20 year career with the federal government. Starting next week, she'll be here at the shop full time!

We are so blessed to be able to take this step. Every sale, every invite to buy stuff, every helpful hand, every prayer I thank you all for every bit. None of this happens without our community. Thank you!!

Congratulations Julie!!! I love you and I can't wait to start this next chapter. Thank you for everything you do.

It's becoming more clear everyday that I'm not building this business for myself. Second generation businesses have a 70% failure rate, so I would never put expectations on my kids to keep this going after I'm gone. But this kid...

I just have this feeling today that I'm planting seeds for a harvest that isnt for me. And while I might only see some of it from the other side of the veil, I think its going to be really really great.

It isnt because he works more than child labor laws allow (he's exempt) or because he gets mad when we let him sleep in. It isnt because he refuses to get paid, because he wants me to put it back in the business, or that he researches every new old thing he sees. It's what he says.

Yesterday, we were on a pick where the negotiations got a little funny. If offered $100 for an oil can, the man would say the most he could take is $50, and then I would say the least I could pay is $70. This continued throughout the pick. The more generous I tried to be, the more the discount increased.

When we got in the truck, Aage asked what the deal was with that. I told him the man was blessing us. And then I just reflected on how many people have supported us this last month alone, and I said, "God's been blessing us a lot these last couple months." Without skipping a beat, Aage says, "God has been blessing you for 44 years "

This kid. I just started crying. He was right. Business has never been better. Almost uncomfortably good. This too shall pass, but I'm so grateful to be here right now. And I cant help but think of all the struggles, the years of losing money that forced changes in our business. The promotions I didn't get, that made it easy to walk away from the corporate life. The lost relationships that broke me, but made me free. It's all a gift, praise the Giver.
