It's Sunday.....and the humidity is going to be brutal today. 😬

The soda wall has a fun variety of retro drinks that we all remember and new mixes that just keep getting crazier. Ranch dressing soda, enchilada soda, spicy pickle soda, and bacon with chocolate soda are a few of the ones I'll never try, but if you're a cola/ski/nostalgic fan we definitely have you covered. A cold Dr. Pepper made with cane sugar in a glass bottle is the most delicious and it's what I send customers from the antique mall to the mercantile for on Sundays. 😉

Speaking of drinks, Mac & Beans locally roasted on St. Jacob restocked yesterday and they're becoming a customer favorite.
It's probably time to change your car freshner and Jennifer C. has new car freshies available, too. 😊

We're starting to rearrange and make room for all of the fall & holiday items arriving soon so we're having a sale on teas, all Fezziwigs loose teas are 50% while they last.

And I've been scouring Marketplace without any luck looking for a cabinet or shelf to hold all of the Amish candies & chocolates. Yesterday I rediscovered a large old wooden tool box in the store room with drawers and cubbies that we used to hold spices a few years ago and it's now the new candy display......back to work where it belongs. 🥰

All of the Sunday donuts, pastries, pies, and cakes are ready & waiting and we're here until 5pm.

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend albeit a little soggy this morning. ☔️

The cases are full and the cinnamon rolls are gigantic today.....perfect for sharing but only if you want to. 🙃
Breads, cream horns, croissants, macarons, and more are ready and waiting, too.

Whether you like to clean or read books on rainy days, we have you covered. Robyn's scrubbies and Swede Dishcloths make doing chores a little prettier. Our ever growing book selection has many local & country history titles and the childrens books written by local authors are fun easy reads.....something for everyone.

And if you come in wet, help yourself to a complimentary cappuccino while you shop.....Don likes the Chai Tea and I'm a fan of the carmel macchiato. 😉

The sky will clear later today and we're here until 5pm.

Yes, she's posting more photos of the old hotel......but wait until you hear this story. 🙃

We've been looking for an early 1900s wooden door with full glass practically since we acquired the hotel. The size is a little different and when I ocassionally find one either we can't afford it or it would take too much work to restore it......I'm by far no expert on refinishing doors.
Last night we picked up a door that came from a 1900s home in Carlinville and not only will it fit the original door area nicely, it is as near perfect as a 125 year old door could be.....I honestly just have to get our fingerprints off the glass from moving it.
The details on the trim, the beveled heavy glass, and the k**b that's been turned thousands of times are just a few of the things that stand out but the cherry on top is that it came with it's original skeleton key....and that makes the story even better. ❤️

It won't be installed until the inside is finished but you can get an idea of what it will look like from the AI image we've been trying to copy.......and I think we're doing a pretty good job of it, too. 😉

It's Sunday, and the overcast sky is a welcome change from the blazing sun yesterday. 🌞

The cases are filled and the last round of pies & cakes are ready and waiting.
Last night I tried the Georgie Porgie German chocolate pie and if you love creamy chocolate and coconut this is definitely the pie for you. Don had a lava brownie warmed up for 20 seconds and the fudge center is the reason for it's name. Both are from Duke Bakery and you'll want to add them your dessert rotation. 🥰

The honey section is filled with locally honey of course, and fun bee related products from beeswax candles, bee themed Swede dishcloths, and beeswax food wraps, to Bit o' Honey candy and hot toddy mixes. 🐝

PeConnie's, Amish chocolates & candies, assorted ground coffee blends, and jams are pantry staples and for those who have been asking for Elderberry jam and strawberry rhubarb jam they're back on the shelf alongside all of the others. 😊

Take a drive and enjoy the day, and if you end up in Pocahontas we'll be happy to see you.

I worked at the antique mall all last weekend and yesterday and it feels like I haven't been here in forever. 🙃
Rest assured Don has restocked everything and the mercantile looks wonderful. 🥰

Sue brought in more Uncle Sams, there's fun summer tshirts, and there's plenty of soaps to keep you smelling fresh during this summer, too.

Everyone is open for shopping and dining and we're here until 5pm.
