Ok, this will be a bit long, but bear with me. Today was one of those days at the boutique I just have to share. I had THE wildest walk in bridal experience today. It was just so cool. A bride from out of town came in with her family. She brought her 95‑year‑old great grandma who was living her absolute BEST life and was wedding‑dress shopping for the first time ever because she was a boy mom. She wasn’t just excited… she was thriving. She stole the show, the spotlight, and honestly my entire heart. Grandma cried. Mom cried. I cried. It was one of those moments where it makes your whole day special.
And listen… I fully expected this to be one of those “try on for fun while visiting Idaho” appointments, which I am totally cool with because grandma getting to experience this was already the sweetest thing EVER for me. The bride told me she was flying back to Texas tomorrow, had no wedding date set, and was just getting a feel for styles. I was completely shocked when she fell in love with, and wanted to buy a gorgeous dress that was one of the very first gowns I purchased when I started my boutique. She made her purchase, I wished her well, and we all went our merry ways.
But then the plot twist hit.
A couple hours after I close the boutique, she messages me… she wants to buy a second dress.
Then she wants to look at a few more.
And that’s when I find out her family owns three zoos in Texas and they are wanting to promote people getting married at the zoo.
They own Zoos.
THREE. Actual. Zoos.
Here I am thinking, “This is so strange. Why is she buying these wedding dresses? Is she opening her own boutique? Am I being Punked? Does she just want like 8 inexpensive designer wedding dresses to change into throughout the day...” and nope...they’re out here casually running zoos like it’s the most normal thing in the world. Meanwhile I’m over here trying not to scream, “I WANT TO OWN A ZOO TOO, TELL ME EVERYTHING,” because you KNOW I had a thousand questions, and my brain immediately went to thinking about ALL the things I would pet.
Anyway....not only did she buy one dress from me...now several gowns from my little Idaho boutique are headed to Texas to help promote weddings at their zoo — including one donated dress, which means I get to pass that blessing forward and donate those proceeds to one of OUR local animal rescues. I couldn't be more excited about this :)
And honestly… today was one of those days where I just stop and thank God for the life I have. For the people He brings through my door. For the stories I get to hear. For the moments I get to witness. For the chance to give back in whatever ways I can while I’m here. I feel so genuinely blessed to do what I do.
I love getting to know people and their stories. If you book an appointment with me, I never don’t want to hear your entire life story. Bring me your grandma, your chaos, your plot twists, your dreams I’m here for all of it.
Small business life is wild… but today was the kind of wild I’ll remember forever. And please if you get married at a zoo - send me those pictures!!!! I want to see ALL the zoo wedding pictures!
