Summer isn’t over yet, but the heat and smoke have us dreaming of cooler days and RAIN! We’re looking forward to some crisp, rainy weather and starting to transition our shop into cooler-season goodies, with new sweater arrivals for both kids and adults.

Today is Mother’s Day in Thailand, and I’m thinking about my beautiful Mae (mother in Thai).

This photo was taken when she graduated from Bangkok University in the 1960s. I’ve always been told that I take after her, and I’ve always been so proud of that.

My Mae is one of the strongest people I know, but her strength has never been loud. She does everything with grace, patience, and a quiet determination. In all my years, I can’t remember a single time I saw her lose her temper.

She has always lived simply and frugally, yet she somehow always finds a way to share whatever she has with the people around her. She gives generously, without keeping score or expecting anything in return.

I can only hope that I’ve inherited a little of her strength, grace, patience, and kindness.

Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful Mae. สุขสันต์วันแม่ค่ะ ❤️
