I bought this exact vacuum cleaner in May of 2021. This vacuum has handled Annabelle's hair, Cappy's hair, MY hair, my thread and refuse in my office through several houses, AND we carefully disassembled it to stuff in the Subaru after leaving a lot of other possessions behind thanks to the dishonest movers we used. It traveled ~2500 miles, was reassembled, and has kept on trucking through another move.
The only thing that is not still in perfect working order about this vacuum is that the base (the part with the brush inside) flops down when carrying it sometimes; it no longer firmly locks into place every time like it did 5.5 years ago.

My spouse went out of town for 2 days to spend some time in nature, like she loves. She picked our son up from school on the way back into town, and when they got home I had to inform him that his grandmother had passed away while he was on a school trip. When they got home, I was showered, wearing my comfies, and had accomplished not only a lot of things for work but some chores around the house as well. All while enjoying a Doordash meal with the 14-year-old and still having fun. And I was sober.
As I approach 7 months, I am remembering all of the times my wife has gone out of town and come home to a spouse in crisis. At times when I begin feeling that immense shame that only addicts can understand, I remember the phrase in AA: "We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it."
I used to struggle with being "properly" contrite without putting myself into a place where I feel so ashamed that I feel hopeless and dive back in. A big change in my life in the last ~6 months is that I do not let myself get that way or worry about if I'm being regretful or sorry "enough." I show my regret and guilt by choosing to stay sober, and so far, that's been more than enough for everyone who loves me.

People have lots of opinions on scissors for trimming and applique!
These have been my favorite scissors for trimming in the hoop, threads, and applique for over a decade. I had used the same pair for about ten years when one of my amazing customers sent me a new pair from my wish list. I keep one pair at my desk and one on the ledge of my machine stand. They are expensive, and they are worth every single penny.
Case in point: I went and found my first picture I shared with an affiliate link, and it's my trusty old pair in the bonus room of the Big House (not jail y'all) where my office was in the bonus room. This was approximately ten years ago.

Boy am I having an emotional time these days or what?
Today I went looking for a picture of my "perfect pairs" key fobs. I knew they are OLD, so I went to the first folder I even used. I typed in "per" to get the search going, and this folder popped up: "personal designs (Melissa)" (why I had to specify whose designs they are, I don't know LOL). Inside, I found the embroidery designs and photos for the Chuggington shirt that I made for my now-14-year-old for his 4th birthday. I could never find them before because I kept searching "Chuggington" and it was saved under this train's name - Koko.
My son was NUTS about Chuggington at this age, and this was his favorite train. Back in early 2016, I had only been digitizing professionally for a year or so (?), so when I say this design was an UNDERTAKING, you know I mean it. I remember it took me several hours over the course of several days, and stitching it out was almost an hour, too. Included on this birthday shirt was the name plate that says Chuggington on the cartoon, and I changed it to Benjamin.
Although I cannot find a picture of Ben wearing the shirt, this memory gave me a few tears today. What a sweet time this was. 👩‍👦‍👦

Random reminder of my FAVORITE hardware!! I used these in silver and gold over a decade ago, and then along the way I found out that they make them in COLORS!!
You can use my affiliate link and/or you can search for "large lobster claw clasps" to find these! My favorite use of them is clasping onto an eyelet sanitizer fob for ease of changing out the sanitizer inside.
