Sarah is one of Silhouette’s bridal tailors. She conducts fittings on Thursdays. While specializing in bridal, she also fits formal dresses, and pins hems. Sarah specializes in sewing ballgowns and is especially amazing at working with lace!

Sarah and I met when I interned for her when she was designing wedding gowns. Fun fact: our sewing studio is the old Bridal Loft where she made and sold her gowns! Sarah has been with Silhouette since 2014. She also made my wedding dress in 2016!!!

Silhouette is quite excited to partner with Oregon’s Wedding Gown Cleaning & Preservation Expert to offer wedding gown cleaning and preservation in Oregon!! Don’t ship your gown to New York to get it preserved! Now you can schedule a drop off with us (link in bio) and have it hand cleaned and preserved by husband and wife team, Alex and Katherine!

Every gown is cleaned and preserved in Albany, Oregon using fabric-specific methods and archival-quality materials. Their preservation methods do not mean your gown has to be sealed forever to keep: you can inspect and enjoy without compromising the long-term care.

What stains can be removed or significantly improved:
-dirt, grass and mud
-food and beverage
-makeup, sweat and body oils
-water marks

They offer standard and premium preservation options with premium being recommended for silk, vintage and couture gowns.

Cleaning and preserving should be done soon after your wedding. But if your dress has been in a closet for three years, we won’t judge! Better late than never!

Enjoy your wedding and make the memories. They will handle the mud, makeup, ch*****ne, grass stains and ketchup later.

Your clothes will shrink! Especially if they are made from cotton, linen or rayon. Manufacturers are not pre-washing fabric so you need to pre-wash before you decide if your new item fits. We will not alter if a new natural fiber garment hasn’t been washed yet.

Also, please be nice to me. This is sooooo outside of my comfort level.

Garment dyed PSA: most USA made companies garment dye their items for economical reasons. Totally makes sense for them, but can lead to issues in alterations. Generally under thread the fabric will not have absorbed the dye so it will have white spots.

For this take in we made sure to line up the waist facing top stitching so we could perfect sew back that line. Under the belt is the white/undyed so you can see what I’m talking about. We opted to not adjust the pockets to lay flat as an undyed line would be visible right on the inside of the pocket.

It’s not magic it’s 15 year of experience!

If you are on our scheduling email list, you will receive an email in the morning when we are ready for you. This is the first round of scheduling so appointment times are not scarce. You do not need to book within the hour. No stress at all!!!!!

Meet the team 🧵🪡

Have you met Jana? She conducts fittings on Wednesdays (soon to be switching for Tuesdays), Fridays and every other Saturday. She was Silhouette’s first employee and has been working with me since the winter of 2012! She started in ready to wear alterations and garment development when we used to make clothing (see photo of us in our matching Jana Boyl blue dresses). She now fits and sews bridal along with still doing a lot of ready to wear.

Jana is famous for making outfits the night before parties and events. She even made her own dress the night before my wedding in 2016—it had mangy cats on it and was absolutely perfect!

Fun fact: she designed and sewed her sister’s wedding dress this year! And no surprise, it was absolutely gorgeous!
