After over 12 years of creating products for fashion brands, I have made a difficult decision.

As of August 15th, JLD-Studios will officially close.

Working with entrepreneurs, dreamers, and driven individuals who strive to bring something unique and valuable to the apparel market has always been my inspiration. My dream was to see these garments produced in the US, and I’m proud to say I accomplished my dream. Even if it was only for a decade or so 😊

But there are quite a few fishermen in our group. You never know what my nephews may convince me to do. Jump in the lake, play catch, cast a line...

Either way, I'll be spending the next week relaxing sans social media!

But there is purpose in our mad taping.

We stole this binding attachment from a coverstitch machine to test some protos. If they go into production, we'll purchase one that actually screws into the machine. But for prototyping- it gets the job done!

Finishing binding on some Dandy new 💦

Can you believe the binding portion of these suits requires 9 separate sewing steps between 2 different machines. We also cut the binding 9 times, plus pick up and reposition the swimsuit 12 times during this process.

Just to attach and finish the binding requires 30 operational steps! For 1 swimsuit 🤽‍♀️

Which portion do you think takes the longest?

- 25 zippers
- 50 zipper pulls
- 20 cordlocks
- 32 grommets
- 10,230 feet of thread (approx, lol)
