Last year I made my largest collage ever (shoutout .dope.mn!) so imagine my joy when .stjohns invited me to put together a teeny instillation as their March featured artist 👼🏼✨

Somehow even more challenging to piece together these tiny canvases, but aren’t they just the cutest?! Swing by to see them in their full 1” glory!

The funny thing about world conflict is it can often become a catalyst for creative energy. These last few months have seen the darkest days, but out of them have emerged beautiful visions of how I want the future to unfold.

These two pieces are part of a larger collection at that took time and concentration. Mixing tiny shreds of culture, sometimes no bigger the 0.25”, into portraits of identity and belonging. Peep these pieces and the rest of the show this weekend during the Opening Reception Friday & Saturday.

❤️‍🔥🔥 KEEP THE PRESSURE 🔥❤️‍🔥

We won the battle, but the war against ICE is far from over. Over the next two weeks Senate will be negotiating terms for a DHS funding bill. Take two minutes of your day, every day, to call your Senator and demand these changes. It’s their job to listen to constituents—that’s you!

Feeling nervous? I have a revised script on Slide 4 that you can use as a guide.

As a reminder:
☎️ Each Senator has both a D.C. number and a local number. Voicemail full on one? Try the other number to get through.

☎️ Constituents are just residents of a state or district. ANYONE regardless of age, voter registration or even citizenship can call and demand change.

☎️ Haters, bots and even people in power will do everything to make you feel afraid and powerless. F*CK THAT. People are afraid of change because they can’t imagine what comes next. Do not let anyone get in the way of you stepping into your power.

State-sanctioned kidnappings are not new to our communities. From roaming slave patrols to our stolen Native brothers and sisters from their homelands, these were all once considered to be “legal”. So long as these actions could be defended in a court they were permissible. Never was the morality of their actions taken into account. The Universal Law that no one man can rule over another.

What hurts me most is the endured suffering of our communities and the ongoing trauma we are inflicted. The generations old fear that has leached into our DNA.

But you know what? We endure. We fight back. We take care of each other and outlast every one of these racist f***s with a smile on our face. Our joy is a form of resistance. Our song, our dance, our love, our stories. We always, always overcome.

They’re not all winners. This unused concept for a city festival was lovingly described as “peak mushroom trip” 🧚🏼 We ended up pulling the design waaay back to fit the client’s current brand guidelines.
