After 2+ years, “Last Thursday” hosted in the Alberta District IS BACK! ⁣

This was actually the first-ever outdoor market the brand was a part of in 2019! We had 4 shirt options, a small canopy, no water, no gum, or a clue in what we were doing lol But me and figured it out by the end of the night! ⁣

⁣ Let us not confuse the [𝐒𝐘𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌 𝐎𝐅 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐌] with primarily being discriminative or prejudice towards someone—because in truth, anyone can be those 2 things. The [𝐒𝐘𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌 𝐎𝐅 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐌] is an interconnecting network of intricate laws and policies that adversely impact a group of people. And a system that was originally designed to shut out Black People during the post-slavery era during reconstruction. ⁣
⁣
⁣
Additionally, it’s an American (& globe) system that’s rooted in fear and has been developed, maintained, strengthened, and taken advantage of by white people. Although we function within its side-effects, People of Color 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐅𝐈𝐗 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐌.⁣
⁣
𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝗪𝐎𝐑𝐊 has to be accomplished in order to understand and eventually minimize the impact of systemic racism in our communities. It’s an uncomfortable process but one that’s necessary. And let’s not confuse that [𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝗪𝐎𝐑𝐊] with aligning yourself with popular [BLACK CULTURE], being content with having a few friends of color, OR EVEN REPOSTING SOMETHING YOUR STORY— that doesn’t disqualify you from harboring racist ideals or anti-Black sentiments. The WORK comes in the form of challenging one’s self to educate, explore, and develop broader perspectives when it comes to social injustice, racism, and inequity. ⁣From there it’s cultivating environments and communities where racist ideologies have no space to exist.⁣

Racism is a white problem.⁣
⁣GET UNCOMFORTABLE & STAY CONSISTENT. ⁣
