I am so stinkin happy to be Home! What a dream to say that regarding Oklahoma! We had the best time celebrating our daughter and son and law..and baby Boy coming in October! (That’s my bday month too I am just sayin..not that it matttters but it’s cool 😉🤐) Anyyyyway! I have a couple small little projects and ideas in the works I’m super excited about! Also found a couple of local people/ small businesses to maybe start working together with! I can’t say it enough… THE PEOPLE HERE ARE SO NICE! Come see us this week! Remember I can wash and braid and it lasts a few days! Soooo nice when it’s 104! Or just come visit! Hope to see yall soon! 🥰Amber

I love Looking at memories on here.. 2 years ago we had the dogs at the park while our 16 year home in NM was being shown to sell. I remember wondering if it was all too good to be true. But, The way our lives have flip flopped and danced us to this beautiful place is truly a gift I’ll never deserve. I love it here❤️. In one week (on Jo & Hanna’s wedding anniversary) we get to be with our family celebrating their precious, already loved, first baby coming in October. 💙 So in two years when I see this one we will just already know He’s rotten and that’s fine. 😬.
This is not hair related I know, but thank you to every person who helps keep Rattled Roots open. Thank you for the laughter, stories, prayers, plants and gifts that have filled it with love. Thank you for letting me share this beautiful harbor💚yall make my day!

Since Curiosity killed the cat and I have friends who like cats…. I thought I’d go ahead and share with everyone why I chose the name Rattled Roots.

Rattled Roots is a name that came together in a way only God could have planned—because truthfully, I didn’t plan any of this.

When I was little, my uncle hunted rattlesnakes and took them to the rattlesnake round-up in Texas. In the garage at my grandparents’ ranch, there were two big trash cans—one for trash, and one for snakes. It’s a small thing, but it stayed with me. I always thought one day I’d go rattlesnake hunting myself.

Since moving to Oklahoma, “rattled” began to mean something different. The song “RATTLE!” and the story of Ezekiel 37 became deeply personal—God bringing dry bones back to life. I’ve experienced that in my own life. In quiet, unseen ways, He has taken what felt empty and breathed life back into it. And I pray others feel that same renewal here.

“Roots” speaks to more than just hair. It’s where I come from—my family roots in Oklahoma and Arkansas. It’s also a reflection of mine and Charity’s maiden names (Rickman and Roberts), another piece of our foundation.

Some roots run so deep they’ve been there since the beginning—growing alongside me all this time.

I’ve seen how God brings new life in His own time—restoring, renewing, and growing something beautiful where it once felt empty.

Rattled Roots is a place to feel beautiful, loved, spirit-fed, and at peace.

My name is Amber Clayton, and I’m the Owner of Rattled Roots Salon & Boutique here in Poteau.

Rattled Roots was built from a dream that grew during a season of change—rooted in faith, restoration, and creating a space where people can come as they are and leave feeling beautiful, loved, spirit-fed, and relaxed.

We offer hair services, color, spray tans, extensions, along with a few extras like waxing, feathers, and more, plus a small boutique. More than anything, my hope is that this place feels peaceful, welcoming, and real.

We are now taking appointments Tuesday–Saturday and would truly love to meet you.
