Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Hadley and her mom, Shelley, to Shoe Train. Hadley grew up in Potomac and spent many years shopping at Shoe Train. Hadley today brought back so many wonderful memories.
Hadley, a remarkable young woman with special needs, and her sister Sarah inspired their mom, Shelley, to start a nonprofit in 1996 that led to the creation of Hadleyβs Park on Falls Road, the first fully accessible playground in Maryland and one of the first in the country. The park became a model for inclusive playgrounds across the nation, creating a place where children of all abilities could play together.
The Shoe Train family were proud to support this incredible project from its very beginning, and we continue to be honored to have been a small part of its story.
It meant so much to see Hadley and Shelley again today. Their familyβs vision, determination, and kindness have touched countless lives, and their friendship has meant the world to us. We know Ed would have been smiling to see Hadley roll through our doors once again. π
Thanks again,
Shelley Kramm
