Prom season is coming to an end.
We still have two weekends left before the final prom we are working with is officially over, but we are definitely starting to see the finish line.
A few things I learned this prom season: always expect the unexpected.
We dealt with shipping delays, items being out of stock literally overnight, inventory changing by the hour, not having enough help, and all the extra stress that comes with trying to make sure every young man walks out looking his best.
This year took us by surprise. It was the biggest prom season we have ever experienced between both of our stores. Exhaustion is not an exaggeration. Some of our staff were working upwards of 70 hours a week. Some nights we did not leave until 10 PM.
We care about every single item that goes out the door. But when you are working with this many people, this many orders, this many alterations, and this many moving parts, things can and will fall through the cracks. For the most part, we were able to fix every challenge we faced. For some, substitutions had to be made.
In five years of doing prom, I have never seen inventory as tough as it was this year. Navy and light gray were an absolute nightmare because of supplier issues. But in the end, it all came together.
We are so thankful for the customers who were patient with us through the process. We still have a few young men left to pick up, and I’m sure we will still have a few last-minute people who just now decided they are going to prom.
Thank you to our staff. Thank you to our seamstress. Thank you to every customer who trusted us this prom season.
Now it’s time to kick it into high gear for wedding season.
