💚 Paraoptometric Spotlight: Alishia

I saved myself for last. 😊

I’m Alishia, our Billing Manager, and I’ve been working in optometry for more than 24 years. I am also a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA) and Certified Paraoptometric Coder (CPOC).

Most of what I do happens behind the scenes. I work with insurance companies, claims, denials, coding, credentialing, accounts receivable, and all of those confusing insurance details that come along with healthcare.

A big part of my job is making sure the billing side of our patients’ care is handled correctly and finding answers when something doesn’t go quite the way it should.

Even after more than two decades in optometry, there is always something new to learn, and that is one of the things I enjoy most about what I do.

Since I’m the last spotlight of the month, I also want to take a moment to recognize all of the amazing people I get to work alongside at both Ochoco Vision Source and High Desert Vision Source.

We may work in different roles and different offices, but every person plays a part in taking care of our patients, supporting our doctors, and keeping everything moving each day.

I’m grateful for both of our teams and proud to be part of this profession. 💚👓

💚 Paraoptometric Spotlight: Rachel

Some people have a job title, and then there are people like Rachel whose impact reaches far beyond their title.

Rachel is our Patient Care Coordinator, but if you spend any time in our office, you know she does so much more. She is one of those people who can see where she is needed and simply steps in. Whether she is helping a patient, supporting the front desk, answering questions, keeping things moving, or jumping in to help a coworker, Rachel is someone we can count on.

One of Rachel’s greatest strengths is the relationship she has with our patients. They know her, they trust her, and they genuinely enjoy seeing her. She has a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for, and that is something you simply cannot teach.

She is also an incredibly important part of our team. In a busy optometry practice, having someone who is flexible, dependable, willing to help, and able to wear many hats is invaluable.

Rachel, we appreciate everything you bring to our practice, but even more than that, we appreciate YOU. Your kindness, dedication, sense of humor, and willingness to be there for both our patients and your coworkers make our office a better place.

We are so lucky to have you on our team. 💚👓

Today we’re celebrating Kelly, our Optometric Technician! 💚

With nearly 12 years of experience in optometry, Kelly brings an incredible amount of knowledge and experience to our team.

As an Optometric Technician, Kelly plays an important role in our patients’ care. She is knowledgeable, thorough, and incredibly accurate. She understands that the testing and information gathered before the doctor enters the exam room are important pieces of the bigger picture, and she takes that responsibility seriously.

Kelly has developed a strong understanding of patient care and the clinical side of optometry. She is someone our doctors and our team can depend on to pay attention to the details and make sure things are done correctly.

And Kelly is never just focused on her own responsibilities. When another area of the office needs help, she is always willing to step in and lend a hand.

Kelly, your experience, knowledge, accuracy, and willingness to help make you such an important part of our team. We appreciate everything you bring to our practice and the care you give our patients every day! 👁️💚

👓 Paraoptometric Spotlight: Mickala

One of the best things you can have in a new team member is someone who is eager to learn, and that is exactly what Mickala has shown us. 💚

Mickala has been in optometry for six months and is currently training in optical. In a short amount of time, she has learned so much about frames, lenses, measurements, adjustments, insurance benefits, and everything that goes into helping our patients with their eyewear.

And she hasn’t stopped there!

Mickala has also stepped up to learn other areas of our office and is always willing to jump in where she is needed.

We have loved watching her confidence and knowledge grow over these first six months.

Mickala, thank you for being willing to learn, ask questions, and take on new challenges. We’re so happy to have you on our team! 👓💚

👓 Paraoptometric Spotlight: Nadine

If you want to know what kind of relationship Nadine, our Lead Optician, has built with our patients, just ask the patients who come in and say, “I’ll wait for Nadine.” 💚

That says a lot.

With 18 years of experience in optometry, Nadine is also a Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) and brings a wealth of optical experience and knowledge to our practice. Choosing eyewear is about so much more than picking out a frame. It is understanding prescriptions, lenses, fit, comfort, lifestyle needs, and helping someone find glasses they are genuinely excited to wear.

But technical knowledge is only part of what makes a great optician. Nadine has earned the trust of our patients, and some simply won’t let anyone else help them.

That kind of loyalty is earned one patient at a time.

Nadine, thank you for the expertise and personal care you bring to our optical and our patients every day. 👓💚

September is Paraoptometric Appreciation Month! 💚👓

This month, we are taking a little extra time to recognize the incredible people who help keep our practice running smoothly and our patients cared for every single day.

There is so much that happens behind the scenes of an eye exam and throughout a patient’s experience with our office. From the first phone call and scheduling an appointment to pretesting, assisting our doctors, choosing the perfect eyewear, navigating insurance and handling billing, it truly takes a team.

We are incredibly proud of ours. 💚

Throughout the rest of September, we’ll be introducing you to the wonderful people behind our practice and sharing a little about what makes each of them such an important part of our team.
