Inspired by a patent from 1877, reimagined for now. Antique machines, forgotten techniques, traditional selvage Cone Denim, and curiosity come together to make this special pair of jeans. 16+ hours to design, draft, cut, sew, and finish. Introducing the Patent Jean V.6, Fallen Buckle-backs.

Cut from undyed selvage Cone Denim, 80% Cotton 20% Refibra. The teal selvage id from A&E is symbolic for global water awareness. Finished with hand sewn buttonholes, shaped one piece button fly, buttons backed with scrap Vanson Leather, single needle sewn elaborate pocket construction.

Check out my previous post to see the process.

Antique machines, forgotten techniques, and traditional selvage Cone Denim come together to make this special pair.

16 hours of work, condensed into a minute.

Most people never see this part of making clothes.
Pattern making is where ideas either work... or fall apart completely.

Proportion, function, and ingenuity meet here, all grounded by fabric and the body.

I’ll show you how this one evolved soon. For now, this is the moment I knew it was working.

This jacket is the latest step in an idea I continue to refine, built from start to finish on a 1950s Singer 31-15 sewing machine and detailed with felled seams and hand-sewn buttonholes. Cut from 14.5 oz Selvage Cone Denim. Much like the selvage itself, this jacket was made in the old-fashioned way. It demands time and technique, prioritizing absolute quality over speed.

This is the first piece from a project I’m working on with Cone Denim as an ambassador. I had the opportunity to learn directly from their team about how denim is made and their 135-year history in the industry. Put simply, making denim is far more complex than I ever imagined. Each step vastly changes the end result; a handful of processes creating infinite possibilities.

If you could only have one pair of jeans, what would they be?

For the last year, we’ve been chasing that answer.

The Pratt Jean is the result: a carefully considered five-pocket jean built from exceptional denim, refined through countless iterations, and made to earn its place as your daily driver.

Available this weekend only at & son NYC.
