🍂 A little learning. A little planning. And a whole lot of FALL is on the way!

The Community Closet is closed today, Monday, August 31, as our staff spends the day together for training, team development, and planning for the season ahead.

And while the doors are closed, something else is beginning behind the scenes…

The FALL RESET! 🍁

Over the next few days, we’ll be transforming the store and working through an incredible amount of generously donated merchandise as we prepare for our Fall & Christmas Preview later this week (September 3-5).

Days like today are an important part of what happens behind the scenes at the Community Closet. We want to invest in our people, strengthen the way we serve, and steward well everything our community entrusts to us.

And speaking of our people… our Community Closet team is growing! We have two new staff members who have joined the team recently, and we’re looking forward to introducing them to you right here very soon. 💛

We’ll reopen Tuesday at 10 AM—and we can’t wait for you to see what’s coming!

🎉 WOW—WHAT A DAY! 🎉

Yesterday’s $1 Clothing Sale brought the largest turnout we’ve seen for any sale over the past year - and it wasn’t even close! In fact, nearly 800 pieces of clothing left our store in a single day, ready for a new season of use. 👕👖👗

Friends visited us from throughout southern Pennsylvania and northern Maryland - and even from New Jersey, Ohio, and New York! We were especially thankful to see so many familiar friends and regular shoppers while also welcoming many new faces. We swapped stories, shared lots of laughter, and simply enjoyed an incredible day together. 💛

And now…TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY!

Worried that everything has already been picked through? Don’t be - the sales floor has been restocked, and there are still plenty of treasures waiting to be found!

Change can be good and tiring, and sometimes a little patience with ourselves and each other goes a long way.

A little August mental health reminder… 💙

Change can be tiring even when the change is good.
As summer winds down, school is beginning and routines begin shifting again, we might find ourselves a little more tired, distracted, irritable, or overwhelmed than usual.

That doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong. Our minds and bodies use energy to adjust to change.

A few things that can help during seasons of transition:
🌿 Keep a few familiar routines in place.
🌿 Give yourself some margin instead of filling every open space.
🌿 Prioritize sleep and regular meals.
🌿 Spend a little time outside.
🌿 Break bigger tasks into smaller, manageable steps.
🌿 Stay connected with people who help you feel grounded.

And remember: you don't have to be struggling to take care of your mental health.

Mental wellness is something we can tend to a little at a time, every day. 💙
