Since I have a home-based business, it drives me bananas when people assume the following things:
*I should be at your beck and call. I have specific days and times (including several evenings a week) offered for appointments, which I think are very sufficient for most people to work into their schedule if they really need my services. I do have days that are purposely blocked off so I can actually perform said work, or so that I’m not constantly attending to customers. Also, I do have another job, and most importantly of all, a family!! People try to bully me into other days and times constantly.
*Since I’m working out of my house and “just” sewing, it doesn’t qualify as actual work. You wouldn’t believe how many people insinuate that what I do isn’t actual work. Sometimes, during busy seasons, I’m plugging away 12 hour days and barely get into my actual house. Plugging away at something that apparently a lot of people can’t or won’t do and I have acquired very specific skills for, so I’d say that qualifies as work.
*I am a next day or express service. During busy seasons I may be many weeks away from touching your garment. Also, I am one person. Sorry.
*You are my only customer. It’s funny how many people walk into my studio, see the many racks full of garments, and are like, “oh, I guess you have a lot to do.” Yep. So if I don’t answer your message immediately or refer you to my scheduling link when you ask about booking, I am not being snippy or have forgotten about you. I know, I sound snippy writing these (I really am a nice person!) and really aim to treat everyone very, very well and do my best for them.
