Crafted by Women. Made in Vermont.
On International Women’s Day, our founder Susan Dollenmaier reflects on the women who have shaped Anichini:
“When I was very young, I lived with my grandparents for a time. My grandmother, Jessie, was a seamstress who worked from a sunny parlor in the Midwest. She was known for the wedding dresses and quilts she made there.
Her quilts were special. Many contained pieces of fabric left over from clothing she had sewn for her grandchildren. Each of us received one - made when we were very young, but given to us when we came of age. Even then, I understood that it was something precious.
There were always scraps of fabric scattered across the floor. I remember being drawn to them - their color, their texture, the quiet rhythm of that room. When people ask how I came to textiles, I believe those early impressions played a part.
Years later, when Anichini began to grow, our Vermont workroom started with one woman sewing from her home. From that small beginning grew a full production studio creating textiles for the home.
Many of the women who joined us had spent years sewing professionally. Their skill was extraordinary, and their dedication even more so. Some have now been with Anichini for decades.
We have been through many seasons together.
Anichini would not be the company it is today without these women and the remarkable work they do every day.
It is a privilege to work alongside them.”
