A very insightful read

The side of pageantry that often gets overlooked: processing and redirecting after the results aren’t what you had hoped and prayed for.

I’m currently road-tripping home from supporting one of my favorite people as she competed for a title she’s worked toward for years. From clinics to coaching sessions to studying on her own, this girl has poured more hours and sweat equity into this than most people can say they ever have. Her hard work and commitment to bettering herself absolutely shined and showed throughout the process.

But here’s the thing: the judges and directors sitting on the other side of a pageant are human. When we go through the pageant process, it’s easy to forget that. These humans are individuals with their own unique experiences and stories that shape their perspectives. And with those individual perspectives comes variation in what each judge sees and looks for. What one person may absolutely love, another may not be impressed by. How you break through the shell of one judge in interviews may not even catch the attention of another.

At the end of the day—or pageant—we will truly never know the full thought process of those judges, the scores, or exactly what they were looking for. Your very best was enough, but just not what those few humans making the call were looking for.

Always walk away knowing you were, and still are, enough—worthy of every unknown good thing heading your way on this newly redirected path. Whatever this new journey brings, you will end up exactly where you are meant to be, and it will all make sense when you get there.

Hold your head high and keep moving forward until you do.
