Got up really early this morning and decided to polish some of our new items. Polishing is a quite chore. I didn’t want to awaken Duffy. The boxed set of 49 pieces of vintage French silverplate polished up beautifully. It is a service for twelve that includes knives, forks, teaspoons, soup spoons and large ladle. The boxed set of sterling silver handled cheese/dessert serving pieces is fabulous. The ice tongs and spoon are silver plate and the copper piece is very large. I was told it is used to bake apples. I thought it was for poaching eggs.

We are still unpacking, cleaning, polishing, etc. A few items pictured below but there is a lot more. The painting of the seated woman watching her chickens is my most favorite item from this trip. Robbie, at Frameworks, found the perfect frame for this painting. The Santon, man with chicken, is the only one I found this trip. Saw many of newer ones but they don’t have the lovely faces. The hammered copper pitcher is an unusual form and signed. The cast iron scales are signed Besson, Paris and appear to work well.

We are back from our buying trip in France and started the arduous task of unpacking and bringing the treasures into the shop. Pictured are a few of the new items we found and now have on display. A beautiful oil on canvas by Jac Laube (Paris artist 1904 - 1985). A impasto, paint thickly applied to give rich texture and depth, floral still life. A framed vintage still life of w**e, bread and garlic. So Provence! A vintage still life by Joseph Harard, Avignon, 1887-1956. He was a noted member of the Groupe des Treize (Group of 13). Last is a heavy silverplate butler’s tray with handles and bun feet.

I’ve been remiss in posting photos but at the end of day, I have been to tired to cart things up the 20 stairs to take photos. Today we managed to cart two bags up. So, here is a sampling of our fabulous finds. A French copper stock pot from middle 1800´s, a small lantern, a gilded fleur-de-llis pediment, a fleur-de-lis pillow. Also a Ricard pitcher’ a green gargouette (w**e pitcher) and several French towels.

We were up early and off to market, then to Salon de Provence for Rompaul Latour soaps. After a fabulous lunch, we headed to the hills for more shopping in San Rémy. Pictured are a few of the many items we found today. The French boxed set of silverplate is lovely. A service for 12 (soup spoons, teaspoons, forks, knives and large ladle). The knife holder is carved oak with a drawer used for displaying knives or keeping them handy. The framed print is signed by Reston, a famous French cartoonist. The three brass pediments are nice for wall decor. Of course we found some great copper pieces. The 6 copper splatter lids are different sizes so I think we got all pot sizes covered. The copper pitcher is signed and has a unique iron handle and the copper and iron measure will make a nice planter or vase.
