Thank you to every single bride that came to my sample sale. We helped so many wonderful women find the dress of their dreams. There were so many heartfelt moments over the course of this sample sale, and I truly feel like a better person for having been a part of them. I will always express gratitude towards everyone who continues to support my small business. You are all absolutely incredible and I appreciate every one of you!
I do want to share a little behind-the-scenes reminder though, because I know there are times when the shop is closed or my availability looks a little different than some other bridal shops.
I work two jobs outside of Ivory & Wing. I work in a daycare, I own and run this little shop, and I work for the Red Wing Trolley, and I also live with POTS, which can make my health very unpredictable. I get sick more often than most people and sometimes it takes me completely out for a day or two, or a week. As much as I wish I could be at the shop every single day, all day long, I just don’t have that kind of capacity right now.
I love Ivory & Wing with my entire heart. This is what I love to do. I care so deeply about every bride who walks through those doors, and if someone calls because they need help, I will be there within minutes to help. I will do everything I reasonably can to help a bride who needs me.
But sometimes I need a break, too. Sometimes my body makes that decision for me. And today is one of those days.
I’m not sharing this to complain or ask for sympathy. I just want to give you a little glimpse into what it actually takes to work two jobs, run your own business, and navigate a disability at the same time. It isn’t always easy, even when you absolutely love what you do.
So if you’ve ever shown up and found the shop closed, or had to work around my limited availability, thank you for understanding. And thank you for continuing to support this little dream of mine.
I love this shop more than I can put into words. I’m just also learning that taking care of myself is part of taking care of it, too. 🤍
