David Feherty interviews John Daly in 2013 and they discuss The Lion’s Den, the public golf course in Arkansas John Daly grew up playing, and ends up buying. USA went on to win in 2024, and were pulling for Captain Brandt Snedeker and team to pull off back-to-back wins in 2026!

How far would a 28 year-old Daly drive with modern equipment? ⛳️

John Daly led the PGA Tour in driving distance 11 times (1991–1993 and 1995–2002, Davis Love led in 1994) and became the first player to average over 300 yards per drive over a full season. This video is from 1994 where Daly hit a 358 yard bomb in a driving competition.

Twenty years ago, Tiger reminded the world that winning isn’t just about power, but also precision.

At the 2006 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, just weeks after losing his father, Tiger shot 18-under to win his third Claret Jug. He was the longest hitter in golf at that time and only used his driver only once all week.

Tee shot after tee shot with a 2-iron and 3-wood with shorter bombs. He didn’t land in a bunker all Open, proving you don’t always win by distance and swinging harder.

“The inner confidence this young man has is quite frightening” - Peter Alliss, said right after Tiger said “that the one you’re talking about” when he hit a bomb. 💣

The scariest thing about 2000 Tiger wasn’t his swing but that everyone knew he believed he was going to win.

26 years ago, just off a resounding US Open victory, he won this Open Championship by 8 strokes. With this win, he became the 5th player ever to complete a Grand Slam (Masters 1997, PGA Championship 1999, US Open 2000, and Open 2000) and the youngest player (24) to ever do so. As we all know, he would go on to win the next two majors to complete the Tiger Slam.

Will golf ever be this fun again?

⛳️ “It would have been the greatest feat in the history of golf”

17 years ago 59 year old Tom Watson was up by one going into the 72nd hole and had he won, would have been the oldest player ever to win a major.

He hit a perfect bomb onto the fairway, and his perfect dart took a bad bounce for him to end up bogeying the hole. He eventually lost in the playoffs.

But Tom says something to David Feherty that goes beyond golf.

Sometimes you do everything right and lose.
Sometimes you do everything wrong and win.

And that’s why you judge yourself by the swing, not the bounce.
