HOW DOES TCL DETERMINE PLAYER RANKS?
We get a lot of questions about how TCL determines Player Ranks, especially as we begin the 2026/2027 season.
This season, TCL is transitioning to the Scoreholio Season Rating as our primary tool for evaluating Player Ranks.
WHY DID TCL RESET RANKS USING PPR?
Before we could transition everyone to the new Season Rating, we needed to establish a consistent starting point for all players.
TCL completed two Rank reviews — one at the conclusion of last season and another immediately before the start of this season.
For the initial placement, we reviewed a player's highest applicable PPR from:
TCL Season PPR
Scoreholio 120 PPR
TCL Selected PPR
This allowed us to normalize the player database and establish starting Ranks before moving to the new system.
The PPR Rank Chart we published is now primarily used to establish an initial Rank for NEW players entering the TCL database. It is not intended to automatically move established TCL players up or down every time their PPR crosses a line.
📊 MOVING FORWARD: SCOREHOLIO SEASON RATING
The Scoreholio Season Rating will now become the primary metric TCL uses for ongoing Rank evaluations.
It works similarly to Scoreholio's SPR by looking beyond PPR alone and evaluating multiple areas of a player's performance, including statistics such as:
PPR • DPR • In-the-Hole % • Off-the-Board % • 4-Bagger % • Wins/Losses • Podium/Finish Results
The major difference is that TCL's Season Rating uses your TCL-sanctioned Season results, giving us a better picture of how you are performing within TCL competition.
As players accumulate more TCL rounds throughout the season, the data becomes stronger and the Season Rating becomes a better representation of current skill level.
❓ WHAT IF I HAVEN'T PLAYED TCL IN A WHILE?
Time away from TCL does not automatically warrant a Rank reduction.
If you're still playing co****le in Scoreholio events, there may still be performance data available for TCL to review.
If you haven't played recently or there isn't enough current TCL data, we encourage you to come back, get your FREE Basic Membership, and play Local TCL events.
Once you accumulate approximately 300 current-season rounds, you may request a Rank Review. This gives TCL current performance data to properly evaluate where you belong.
❓ WHAT IF I WAS RIGHT ON A RANK LINE?
We understand that no initial reset is going to perfectly represent every individual situation.
Maybe your PPR was right at the cutoff. Maybe one PPR category pushed you into a Rank but contained limited rounds. Maybe there are other circumstances in your data that deserve a closer look.

We'll look deeper into the available data rather than relying on one number alone.
❓ WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE PLENTY OF TCL DATA?
If you have enough established data to support your current Rank, let the new Season Rating system do what it is designed to do.
Continue playing TCL events and allow your current-season performance to determine whether you should remain in your Rank, move up, or move down.
We don't want players chasing individual PPR cutoffs throughout the season. We want the larger body of performance data to determine the appropriate Rank.
🛡️ WHY DOES TCL USE RANKS?
The goal is simple:
Protect competitive balance for the players who compete in TCL while placing new and existing players into the Rank that best represents their current level of play.
Rankings will never be perfect based on one game, one tournament, or one statistic. That's why TCL is moving toward a system that evaluates a broader picture of player performance.
