My neighbor needs a custom work table. She wanted to trade my workbench making skills for this .

Backpack Number 5 is complete and ready to be trail tested in less than a week! I used an existing pattern from but I only loosely followed it for the form (I did increase the pack volume slightly by modifying one of the side panel pattern pieces and making a new rolltop collar for the bag). Everything else was experimenting on the fly, seeing what I could do with some really small amounts of technical fabrics (there's stretchy water resistant fabrics for the flanking side kangaroo pouches and super reflective stretchy water bottle pockets), pulling from past bags, adding new features recently found useful, and just having fun with the creative process and brainstorming for future bag designs. I think I like this pattern for the most part, and I want to refine this pattern more with my ideas before this can be offered for purchase. I did have to tweak and add more pattern pieces a lot to get it to the way it looks now. Really digging this new pack! What do you think? Is this something you'd see at REI?

Popping my head up for some air. It looks like I've made about 450 to-date. Approximately 200 masks were mailed out to people that requested masks. Some donated money so that I could buy more supplies to reach my goal. 🙏 For my last batch to the , I was only able to send in 50 masks. This time around, I'm sending out 200 adult and child size masks. Only 750 more masks to go to reach my 1,000 mask goal. New batch of masks starts tomorrow! @ Mill Valley, California

This week's batch of 218 all cut up and ready for the / machine for the here in . I haven't told many people this but I'm shooting for a 1,000 mask goal. At the end of this, I probably will have made over a thousand masks. So far, I've sent in 50 masks. 950 masks to send in! Some masks are being sent to those who messaged me and donated money so I could buy materials. I have a batch waiting to get packed and sent out so I'll grab an updated tally of how many in that batch was sent out. @ Mill Valley, California

Took a chance on this off of craigslist today. Since it needs a new belt and a thorough tune-up, I was able to talk the seller down $70. For $180, it's not a bad deal for an all metal sewing machine. They don't make them like this anymore. It came with a vintage sewing table, but I'm probably going to sell the table an buy a proper sewing table and replace the old motor with a servo motor. I now have TWO used Toyota sewing machines that will have been brought back from the dead. I plan on using this machine to get those elastic edge binding zig-zags for stretchy backpack pockets and other projects that need a nice zigzag or bartack. Hope to have it up and running soon. @ Mill Valley, California
