Processing the last fleece I have of Flynn Rider's today! I'm catching up with my fiber list of things to do at last. Are you out enjoying the weather today? As a person who spins yarn all threads, knots, braids, and any fiber art magic starts with the fiber that is used. How you spin the yarn and even the natural dye source you use can layer magic into a working. But spinning your thread 🧵 or 🧶 is where this magic can begin. Attention all Fiber Artists and Crafters: this Saturday May 30th will be the start of our Saturday craft meetings for Yarn Arts Anonymous! We've settled in as a group now and will be at the Ridgway Public Library from 10-2 pm this Saturday and every Saturday going forward.

Remember to bring a project with you if you have one but if you don't just sit in with us anyway. This group meeting is open to the public and free to attend for anyone 18+. If you'd like to find out more about YAA please click on the name link and read all about us and our events list for future meetings.

I hope to see you all this Saturday from 10-2 for some addictively good crafting time! We'll be upstairs in the second floor meeting room as a private event will be going on outside on the library grounds.

Shearing Day is here!

Allegheny Nesting has sheared their alpaca once again and I was happy to be here to help with the process. Now while I am sad to say my favorite alpaca Nimbus 2000 has passed away recently I will still process Luke, Flynn, and Thunder's fleeces with so much love.

Many pictures and some videos will be coming out today so check out both of our pages and check out the shearing company that came out today( I'll link them here when I can) Thanks to everyone today for a great job!

Details are with each picture below. Please know that this is for the good of the animals and no animals were harmed today. Shearing is like getting a buzz cut at the barbershop and letting them be cool for the summer months. As their hair grows it gets long enough by winter to keep them warm. Happy and healthy alpaca 🦙.😊

Just a couple quick pictures of Nimbus 2000's fleece today. This is my third day of fleece processing this week! Nice to see the good weather coming in so I can do more work 😆. This week I have finished reorganizing my fleeces, boxing and labeling each and putting them each in their own bin (finally) and checked to see which ones I have left to do.

So as you can see I have 4 more to go before I get in the 2026 shearing season fleeces in. 🤣 Next will be a lot of washing fleeces, making yarn, nesting material and dryer balls. Oh and classes! If you'd like to learn how to process alpaca fleece please message me for this upcoming season.

Custom orders are also being taken right now for this fiber. I will be spinning it in July this year so if you see a color you love, want a special item made or anything let me know soon!

Hey everyone! Don't forget this Saturday April 25th from 10-2 at the Ridgway Public Library will be our next Yarn Arts Anonymous meeting. We will be in the second floor meeting room. Bring your current project, bring your tools and yarn but even if you don't have anything or are just starting out please feel free to come in and chat with us anyway. If you give me a day's notice I can bring in yarn and some tools for you too. All crafters 18+ are welcome and it's free to attend!

The last piece of my new spinning wheel has finally arrived today! Of course I needed to have a distaff for her 😆. After some sanding and fitting she's all set to start tomorrow at our first Saturday YAA meeting. I gave her some more oil and a new leader for the first bobbin along with making 4 oz of pre drafted fiber (Corriedale and Rombouillet). Some fiber was left so I made a necklace for Mokosh ( Slavic goddess of Spinning) who stands on my altar. I pray she blesses my wheel's maiden spin tomorrow. 😊

Alrighty folks! Remember this Saturday, April 11th will be our first Yarn Arts Anonymous Saturday meeting from 10-2 at the Ridgway Public Library ! It looks like it will be 58-60 degrees outside ( sunny with a light breeze) so once we get there we can decide whether we'd like to be inside still or we can try the Arboretum.

Our group meetings are free and open to the public for anyone 18+. You don't have to bring any craft with you to be curious or watch some amazing crafters. If you want to craft but don't have supplies please just message me to let me know. I will gladly bring some yarn and easy beginner craft supplies for you to use at the meeting! Otherwise just bring your amazing self and a fiber craft you love to do. I hope to see you all crafting on Saturday at the Library!
