Latest Monique’s Originals: My interpretation of the inspiration image using the Buckaroo Bobbins pantaloon pattern.
I used a Northcott 1800s reproduction fabric as the base and I embellished the pants with appliqués of butterflies and different scripts.
I used drawstring for the waist instead of the elastic recommended and I added side seam pockets. This was a very satisfying project.
Thank you Moon Mistic for the perfect mustard yellow colored trim I used beneath the narrow tucks in the pant legs!

Latest Monique’s Originals: I was inspired to make this garment from this Pinterest image and sought out a perfect square tablecloth (thank you Susan Guthrie) with beautiful grape clusters. I had this in a project bag for months and it was up next in the queue.
I originally had some deep forest green cotton fabric to use as the contrast fabric but decided to use this beautiful magenta/purple/blues plaid instead.
I made more mistakes during the course of this project that I started to question my sewing aptitude! Ugh! So much picking out seams.
The real kicker was discovering that the plaid was made of wool and there were a few moth holes to deal with! I’d really had it by then and had to take a couple of days away from the studio.
I last step in this sewing journey was to apply the hole repair kit to the moth holes. Glad I’ve got that for moments such as this!
Anyway, I’m very pleased I persevered and it’s done! Huge check off my bucket list!

Latest Monique’s Originals: Based on the inspiration picture, I fashioned my own drawstring pants with extra wide legs and embellished with lace on the sides with the seams sewn on the exterior of the garment. This was a little tricky but worth the preplanning.
Most of all the fabrics are batiks with the center front and back from Pamela Landis! Such a marvelous print! So rich and deeply saturated with dye! I also used some long-kept striped linen and some of my very favorite batik pieces!
I was able to actually use some FQs in this make! I love when that works out!

Latest Monique’s Originals: I was inspired by this image from Pinterest to make a skirt with 3 layers of fabric. I prefer drawstring for the waist and I like placing the twill tapes on the side seams.
I really love this fabric and I expect that the waist will be thick when pulled tightly but so be it.
The longer green is a vintage eyelet from Joann’s and the striped is a cotton from Joann’s as well. The top layer is a purchase from eBay.

Latest Monique’s Originals: A gorgeous April Cornell “Peony Watercolor” tablecloth turned into a delightful dress enlarged from a child’s pattern (thank you Charmaine Denise Getler for all your help with this one too), McCall’s 8556.
Plenty of adjustments and details to really showcase this gorgeous fabric, trim, buttons, and perfect butterfly cotton lace with scalloped edging for the overdress (thank you Moon Mistic!).
I am delighted with the final result and all the slow-hand work was truly worth it.

Latest Monique’s Originals: Made from a 1972 #5341 Simplicity Smock Top to wear with my beloved pink lace skirt (thank you Moon Mistic for this fabric!), I used all the leftover lace fabric to embellish this fabulous AGF Vie de Bohème bird print fabric.
I had just enough lace to adorn the square neckline and of course, I had to add the wonderful silk ribbon as well.
This pattern nor the skirt had any pockets so I added a patch pocket using what was left of the delightful lace edge for the top of the pocket.
It’s so satisfying to use up what you have and to make the whole ensemble work together.

Latest Monique’s Originals: The Champagne Field Dress by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. This is a fun make to be worn on Volunteer Appreciation Day at my kiddo’s school where I read to their classes and my daughter’s Dannylle Towner-Silva too.
This is made from The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar fabrics and panels. Used several for hem band and I had found some awesome ribbon to trim some seams and edges.
This took some planning but I really love the pattern and it had lots of potential for future makes!
