My recent client Karli came to me on recommendation of a family member. I had done her neices wedding dress. Karli had taken her dress to another seamstress and wasn't happy with her progress. So she brought her dress to me.
At the first consultation, we talked about what the dress still needed to have it fit right. She also had asked to add sleeves with appliques.
But i could tell something was still on her mind. So i point blank asked her if she was happy with the dress. She said yes, but she had fallen in love with a dress years ago and wasn't able to get it. She had a picture of the dress and had inquired before to have it made, but it wasn't economically feasible. I noticed right away that the dress she bought was similar in fit, but the top was different. I suggested we change the top to match the picture. She was shocked. She had asked the previous seamstress to do so, and she said it wasn't possible. I assured her it was.
I added extra fabric to close up the deep V , raise the back, and made sleeves. Then, repositioned and added extra appliques that she had brought.
This was truly a labor of love. This client was so fun to work with. As you can see, she's was very happy with the results.
