There has been a heaviness over our community lately. It seems that with each passing week, we hear of another family facing loss, another goodbye, another heart carrying more than it should have to.
Grief has a way of reminding us how deeply we love. I know that road well. Losing my mom changed me forever, and while the ache never completely disappears, I have found peace in believing that those who have gone before us are no longer carrying pain, illness, fear, or suffering. That doesn’t erase the sorrow we feel here on earth, but it does bring comfort knowing they are whole.
Death is one of the few promises every one of us shares. It is never easy, never convenient, and never something we are truly ready for. But it is also not the end of the story.
My faith tells me that God has a purpose even when I cannot understand it. I believe He is preparing His Kingdom and calling home faithful servants. As this world grows darker, I believe He is also raising up people of courage, compassion, unwavering faith, and strength people who will love others well, stand firm in truth, and shine His light when it’s needed most.
To every family grieving today: please know that you are not alone. This community mourns with you. We pray with you. We carry a small piece of your burden alongside you.
And to the rest of us, let’s continue to be the hands and feet of Christ. Check on your neighbors. Make the phone call. Deliver the meal. Offer the hug. Pray for one another. Sometimes the smallest act of kindness becomes the greatest source of hope for someone who is struggling to take the next step.
Life is precious. Love your people well. Say the words that matter. Forgive quickly. Hold your family a little closer. And never underestimate the power of faith, prayer, and a community that refuses to let one another walk through the valley alone.
Please continue to keep every grieving family in your prayers.
