Opening in January! Hello Friends! I have restarted this business as my "Tent Making" to support myself and "Mary Jeter Ministries, Inc."
Here's my Story! Please read this testimony!
I have been designing clothing, jewelry, floral arrangements and inspired gifts of thoughtfulness since I was a small child. I would sit on the floor
floor in my room and make h'aute couture gowns for my barbies and baby dolls.
Now you may not know that I am adopted and was a victim of child abuse and was abandoned by my biological mother at the age of three in Dallas, Texas. In April of 1964 at the age of four and a half I was adopted by my New Parents. I lived in Hope Cottage Orphanage in Dallas until my salvation from these beautiful Christian parents occurred. So - no way would I have any exposure to anything fine or beautiful from my birth until my adoption. My neighbor Jane Eidison's Sister saw me playing designer when I was five and from then on she would send fabulous tapestry, silks and all manner of expensive fabric pieces to me from Holland, where shed lived.
From there I started making bags and totes and then my clothes. I may have been eight years old when my Daddy bought me my very own sewing machine. (I had been using my mother's little black singer from the 1930's). Then as part of my Christmas present of the sewing machine he me to tailoring school at the singer sewing center in Ridgewood shopping center in Garland, Texas. I rode my bike with the banana seat, cool basket with flowers and Yellow tires! Not an unexpected cool for a ride future designer on her way to make a mark on the world - on her bike. I learned to tailor and do French tailoring and many other lost arts because my family believed in me and this strange God-given talent.
I must also share about my dear Grandmother from England. As I was an only child she was my very best friend. I was gifted and talented in art and music and most of the kids didn't understand me or like me and I was the geeky kid that the other kids chased and you know the rest. My Grandmother was such a blessing. She grew up on a Manor in England in true Gentile Lady Fashion. She taught me to do many types of needle work and knitting and crochet and how to do many things that are lost arts today. She added to my arrows in my quiver of talents.
As an adult I have not only designed gowns and children's clothing and rooms, I have also worked in the Outdoor Design and Import of High End Furniture manufacturing industry on an international level from Ningbo, China and Jakarta, Indonesia.. The outdoor space design is one of my favorite places!
