Battle on the Beach 5 was our favorite one yet. We took so many pictures and videos this past weekend that it will take a while to post and catch up on all of them, but this moment right here was special and I wanted to share it first.
As I stood on top of the bleachers and took this video, I felt extreme gratitude and joy and wanted to capture this moment. The weather was perfect with not a cloud in the sky all day. Athletes were having fun, working hard and setting new PR’s. The boat pull event was about to start, which was such a fun addition a few years ago that made us feel even more included in the competition. There were kids playing on the beach, swimming in the lake, boats going by in the background. Families were camping out enjoying the festival. And everywhere I looked I could see people dotting the crowds in our shirts and hats, representing Iron Swell proudly.
This was our fourth year being present at this event but we’ve been a part of it since the beginning; all five years. There really couldn’t be a more perfect event set up for our brand than this one either. Lifting heavy weights right on the beach with the water in the background—it just screams Iron Swell. To top it off, this group of people here within the Michigan Strongman community have welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like truly a part of their family since the beginning. Coming back to this event every year has been like a fun summer reunion.
Selling shirts at an event is one thing, but feeling like you’re a part of a something bigger is another. While this may be the last BOTB, it was definitely one to go out on. We’re sad to potentially never be back here again, but the memories made at Harbor Beach the past four years have been wonderful. Thank you all so much for this.
