Most Jax & James design inspiration comes from everyday life.
When we moved to Georgia, one of the first things I noticed were the magnolia trees that seemed to be everywhere. We even have one in our front yard.
But the story behind this design didn't start with our tree. It started with our sweet neighbor.
She's in her 70s and is the definition of Southern hospitality. She leaves Easter baskets on our front porch for Jaxon and calls out, "Hey, my Jax Jax!" from over the fence whenever she sees him. We can barely see each other through the old magnolia tree that shades her backyard.
One morning she called and said, "I left something on your porch."
It was a freshly picked magnolia bloom.
She told me she wasn't sure Jaxon had ever smelled one before.
Truthfully... neither had I. Our tree's branches don't hang low enough to reach the blooms, so this was our very first time experiencing one up close.
Smelling the fresh magnolia was truly an experience. It was a simple moment that made me understand why magnolias are such a symbol of the South.
That simple act of kindness became the inspiration behind this design.
Sometimes inspiration comes from the people who make a place feel like home, the beauty that surrounds us every day, and the little moments that become the memories we carry with us.
