Jen had the privilege of supporting this amazing mama throughout pregnancy and standing by her side during the birth of her sweet baby.

One thing we often talk about with our clients is that labor can become especially intense during active labor. It's not uncommon for moms who hoped for an unmedicated birth to start questioning their plan as contractions become stronger. This is a normal part of the labor journey.

One of the greatest benefits of having a doula is continuous support during those moments. We provide encouragement, hands-on comfort measures, position changes, breathing techniques, and reassurance so you can pause, ask questions, and make informed decisions—not decisions made out of fear or feeling alone.

Whether your birth unfolds exactly as planned or takes a different path, there is no "right" way to give birth. An unmedicated birth is something many families hope for, and an epidural is a wonderful option for those who choose it. Our goal is never to steer you toward one choice or another, but to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in whatever decision is best for you and your baby.

I enjoyed meeting this family early in pregnancy and building a solid relationship. Feeling relaxed and safe in her birth environment helped this mom progress to 10cm quickly. Her husband was an amazing & calm presence for her. I was so happy to be part of their story of welcoming baby #2!

Taylor said it wonderfully! This family had really done the research on most aspects of birth and chose what they felt was best for them and baby. Their little boy is truly blessed with some wonderful parents! Enjoyed supporting them prior, during and after labor & birth.

This mama took the time to educate herself, created a birth plan that reflected her wishes, and confidently advocated for the birth she envisioned. Congratulations to this incredible mama and her beautiful baby boy! 💙

It was a busy baby weekend! This mommas quick birth left everyone a little stunned. She arrived at the hospital 10cm after only being woke up by contractions at 4am.
Welcoming baby boy #2 and what a doll he is!! 🩵

As a doula, pieces of every birth stay with you. Some births are so impactful they stay ingrained in your heart forever. This is one of those births!
It was emotional, inspiring and intense. It was wonderful to support this amazing husband and wife as they become dad and mom. 💜

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing staff at Cadillac Labor & Delivery. While this birth took an unexpected turn and Mom required surgery after delivery due to serious complications, the providers and nurses remained calm, focused, and compassionate every step of the way.

Birth is often beautiful and straightforward, but it's also a reminder of why experienced medical teams matter. When complications arise, having knowledgeable providers who can quickly recognize concerns and respond appropriately can make all the difference.

We've had the privilege of working alongside Cadillac L&D for quite some time, and moments like these highlight the dedication, expertise, and teamwork they bring to every family they serve.

Congratulations again to this sweet family, and thank you to the incredible staff who helped ensure both Mom and baby received the care they needed. 💕✨

This momma knew what she wanted and her care providers supported it. She started off very unsure of herself. I watched her confidence grow in that hospital room! So proud of mom and dad.

At 41 weeks and 5 days, this little guy finally decided to make his appearance!
It's amazing how smooth and straightforward labor can be when we trust our bodies, allow babies the time they need, and surround ourselves with a supportive birth team.

As a mom of 8 and a doula for over a decade, one thing I wish more women understood is this:

Your cervix is not a crystal ball. 😅

A cervical exam cannot predict when labor will start, how long labor will last, or whether you’re about to have a baby tomorrow or next week.

Some women sit at 3-4cm for DAYS.
Some women go from “barely dilated” to holding a baby a few hours later.

Birth is not a slow, perfectly organized, linear staircase the internet makes it sound like.

And declining cervical exams is perfectly acceptable unless there’s an actual medical reason one is needed.

A lot of experienced home birth midwives can usually tell where labor is progressing WITHOUT constantly checking internally anyway.

They’re watching:
• your breathing
• your sounds
• your movement
• pressure changes
• how you cope through contractions
• emotional shifts
• whether you’re getting quiet, shaky, inward, irritable, etc.

Because labor is a whole-body process.
Not just a number.

I think a lot of women are pressured into unnecessary checks because they don’t realize they can simply ask:
“What information will this change?”

Sometimes the answer is:
…nothing. 👀
