Please continue to share this while we figure out exactly what our options are with our dog we are hoping to prolong his youth maybe without surgery and without having to put him down. For now we are keeping him comfortable with his vitamins and medication to manage his pain and he’s doing really good. This isn’t a permanent solution but other things like a fitted brace aren’t ideal, things like laser therapy could benefit him if he starts to get scar tissue but it’s a matter of how and if it tried to heal on its own. That could cause complications too but personally I don’t think he would do good in recovery and end up hurting himself more having to be down for 8 weeks, with how hard it is to keep him calm now and he’s off his pain meds that have him a little loopy! He’s a big dog and will do what he wants at the end of the day so I have to keep his stubbornness in mind. I have talked to some other owners of the same breed that have had this happen and got some reassuring stories but every dog and ligament tear is different. He is still his happy self and that’s what matters for the rest of his days. 🤍🤍
