So let’s break it down BETTER because KN95s are expensive and hard to find in stock again.
1. It’s unrealistic to expect a clean new N95 daily for everyone, especially children.
2. KN95s: get some if you can. The best fit you can manage. Save them for indoor, high risk activities where you know your likely to be in close contact with others. If yours doesn’t fit tightly - try a cloth mask with a secure seal over the top of it.
3. Surgical masks have great layers but … let’s face it … lousy fit for almost everyone. So how about a cloth mask that has a tight, secure seal all around the nose and mouth area over top of that to hold it in place.
4. To say all cloth masks are inferior is to discount the many washable, reusable masks made with a combination of tightly woven cotton fabric layers and non-woven polypropylene layers sewn in between. These masks offer protection, secure fit, are better and more sustainable environmentally. And are much easier to locate and afford.
I hope this helps. Omicron has really hit hard and fast in ways we didn’t anticipate but that doesn’t mean all our masks are useless. We can up the mask game without going broke in the process.
I make it a point to research and educate myself as much as possible on this particular topic so If you have questions don’t hesitate to ask. If I don’t already know I will locate a trusted resource and get the answers you need.
